So, I’ve got a big birthday coming up this year… the good news is, maybe I’m finally at the age where doing “crazy” things that make me happy is as simple as just doing them!
For a while now, I’ve wanted to add a few streaks of bright color to my hair. For those of you who know me, I’m fairly adventurous when it comes to my hair, so that probably doesn’t seem like such a big deal. BUT I’m also the mom of 3 kids, the youngest of whom just graduated from high school. I’ve put off doing my hair because I always felt like it was important to try my best not to purposely embarrass them in front of their friends or to try to hard to look like any of them.
Fortunately, those days are kind of over. Most days, my girls want to borrow my stuff and my son seems to have made peace with his crazy, silly mom. My husband has never been one to dictate my fashion sense or my hairstyles; in fact, I think he enjoys my individuality. Most importantly, I’ve learned to worry less about what others think about me and care more about what I think about myself.
Yesterday, I took the plunge—and as with most things, I did it myself! I got the bleach kit, the color and went to town. 3 hours later, I’m happy with the result and even happier that I “just did it”! After all, it’s only hair… and you only live once, so do it colorfully!
